Shiatsu for your health

Shiatsu is a bodywork technique originated in Japan. The word “Shiatsu” literally means “finger pressure.” One can receive Shiatsu as a preventative or recreational remedy, as well as a treatment for a chronic illness. Shiatsu enhances one’s holistic health.

I have been a student of Tao Shiatsu, a therapeutic Shiatsu technique developed by Ryokyu Endo in Japan. Tao Shiatsu focuses on the balance of Ki (vital energy) in the receiver’s body by treating one’s meridian (the vessel of Ki) not only physically but also with the practitioner’s empathetic resonance with the receiver. If you would like to know more about Tao Shiatsu, please visit the official web site: www.taoshiatsu.com

My standard fee for a 90 minutes session is $50 (for house visit, add extra $15). Because my intention is to share this healing art with as many people as possible, I offer a sliding fee based on one’s ability to pay.

Please feel free to contact me to make an appointment.

1/10/2008 Happy New Year!

1. Kats returned from India after six months study

Dear Friends and Supporters of Paneer Project,

I returned in early December after studying for six months at Subbody Butoh School Himalaya (www.subbody.net) in Dharamsala, India. I have learned a tremendous amount there and I feel that I have grown so much both personally and artistically. I cannot describe my whole experience in a few words. It exceeded my expectation in many levels. If you are interested in my experiences, please read some of my blog entries at http://blog.myspace.com/paneerproject

I would like to thank the Minnesota State Arts Board for giving me this wonderful opportunity through Artist Initiative Grant. I also would like to thank all my friends for supporting me in this endeavor.

I would like to share my experiences through teaching and performing Subbody Butoh in the Twin Cities. Thank you for your continuous support and I hope you will continue to support my artistic ventures.

2. Reintroducing Kats D Fukasawa as a Subbody Butoh Dancer

In order to share what I learned in India and to re-introduce myself to the Twin Cities audience as a Subbody Butoh practitioner, I am giving a series of performances and workshops.

Subbody Butoh Workshop is a group process and this workshop requires no previous dance experience. Anyone who would like to explore their hidden creative potentials are welcome!

This workshop will focus on the essential aspects of Subbody Butoh:

· Quiet down the daily consciousness and listen to the subbody (sub-conscious body) signal.

· Go beyond our physical, psychological and social bounds in order to create movements that are novel and unique to the individual body.

· Explore three basic bodies of Subbody Butoh: Proto-Body, Hidden Body and Possessed Body.

· Find resonance within our bodies and with each other.

· Through resonance with other Subbodies, become Co-body

4. Tao Shiatsu

As a part of Subbody Butoh training at Subbody Butoh School Himalaya, I was exposed to Tao Shiatsu (www.taoshiatsu.com). It is a therapeutic Shiatsu technique developed by Ryokyu Endo. Tao Shiatsu goes beyond conventional Shiatsu techniques and focuses on the balance of Ki (vital energy) in the receiver’s body by treating one’s meridian (the vessel of Ki) not only physically but also with the practitioner’s empathetic resonance with the receiver.

I am in training to become a Tao Shiatsu practitioner and looking for people who are interested in having a Shiatsu session. Because I am a trainee, I don’t charge (though I won’t refuse in-kind donations or trade). If you are interested, please feel free to contact me to make an appointment.
